Lozol/Indapamide IS USED FOR:

Treating high blood pressure, swelling, or congestive heart failure due to excess fluid in the body.

Lozol/Indapamide is a diuretic. It works by causing the kidneys to eliminate large amounts of water and salts.

POSSIBLE SIDE EFFECTS OF Lozol/Indapamide :

All medicines may cause side effects, but many people have no, or minor, side effects. Check with your doctor if any of these most COMMON side effects persist or become bothersome:

Back pain; diarrhea; dizziness or lightheadedness when siting up or standing; headache; infection; nervousness; pain; runny nose; trouble sleeping; upset stomach.

Seek medical attention right away if any of these SEVERE side effects occur:

Severe allergic reactions (rash; hives; difficulty breathing; tightness in the chest; swelling of the mouth, face, lips, or tongue); chest pain; drowsiness; fatigue; irregular heartbeat; muscle cramps; numbness of your hands or feet; pounding in the chest; rapid heartbeat; unusual tiredness; urination problems; weakness; yellowing of the skin or eyes.

DO NOT USE Lozol/Indapamide IF:

• you are unable to urinate or have problems urinating
• you are allergic to any ingredient in Lozol/Indapamide
• you are taking ketanserin

Contact your doctor or health care provider right away if any of these apply to you.

BEFORE USING Lozol/Indapamide :

Some medical conditions may interact with Lozol/Indapamide. Tell your doctor or pharmacist if you have any medical conditions, especially if any of the following apply to you:

• if you are taking any prescription or nonprescription medicine, herbal preparation, or dietary supplement
• if you have gout or lupus
• if you have heart, liver or kidney disease, or have low levels of sodium or potassium in your body
• if you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or are breast-feeding
• if you have allergies to medicines, foods, or other substances

Some MEDICINES MAY INTERACT with Lozol/Indapamide. Tell your health care provider if you are taking any other medicines, especially any of the following:

• Nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) (eg, Motrin/ibuprofen) because the effectiveness of Lozol/Indapamide may be decreased
• Angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitors (eg, Vasotec/enalapril ), diazoxide, or ketanserin because the risk of kidney problems may be increased
• Zyloprim/Allopurinol, Symmetrel/amantadine, antineoplastic agents (eg, Cytoxan/cyclophosphamide), digitalis glycosides (eg, Digitek/digoxin), Lithobid/lithium, or nondepolarizing muscle relaxants (eg, vecuronium) because the actions and side effects of these medicines may be increased

This may not be a complete list of all interactions that may occur. Ask your health care provider if Lozol/Indapamide may interact with other medicines that you take. Check with your health care provider before you start, stop, or change the dose of any medicine.

IMPORTANT SAFETY INFORMATION:

• Before you have any medical or dental treatments, emergency care, or surgery, tell the doctor or dentist that you are using Lozol/Indapamide.
• Patients being treated for high blood pressure often feel tired or run down for a few weeks after beginning therapy. Continue taking your medication even though you may not quite feel "normal." Contact your doctor or pharmacist about new symptoms.
• Lozol/Indapamide may cause increased sensitivity to the sun. Avoid exposure to the sun, sunlamps, or tanning booths until you know how you react to Lozol/Indapamide. Use a sunscreen or protective clothing if you must be outside for a prolonged period.
• PREGNANCY and BREAST-FEEDING: If you become pregnant, discuss with your doctor the benefits and risks of using Lozol/Indapamide during pregnancy. It is unknown if Lozol/Indapamide is excreted in breast milk. Do not breast-feed while taking Lozol/Indapamide.
• Lozol/Indapamide may cause drowsiness, dizziness, lightheadedness, or blurred vision. Do not drive, operate machinery, or do anything else that could be dangerous until you know how you react to Lozol/Indapamide. Using Lozol/Indapamide alone, with certain other medicines, or with alcohol may lessen your ability to drive or to perform other potentially dangerous tasks.
• LAB TESTS, including electrolyte levels, may be performed to monitor your progress or to check for side effects. Be sure to keep all doctor and lab appointments.
• Diabetes patients - Lozol/Indapamide may affect your blood sugar. Check blood sugar levels closely and ask your doctor before adjusting the dose of your diabetes medicine.
• Lozol/Indapamide may cause dizziness, lightheadedness, or fainting. Alcohol, hot weather, exercise, and fever can increase these effects. To prevent them, sit or stand up slowly, especially in the morning. Also, sit or lie down at the first sign of dizziness, lightheadedness, or weakness.
• Your doctor may have also prescribed a potassium supplement for you. If so, follow the dosing carefully. Do not start taking additional potassium on your own or change your diet to include more potassium without first checking with your doctor.

HOW TO USE Lozol/Indapamide :

Use Lozol/Indapamide as directed by your doctor. Check the label on the medicine for exact dosing instructions.

• If you miss a dose of Lozol/Indapamide and you are taking 1 dose daily, take the missed dose if you remember the same day. Skip the missed dose if you do not remember until the next day. Do not take 2 doses at once.
• When you first start taking Lozol/Indapamide , it may cause an increase in the amount of urine or in frequency of urination. To prevent this from affecting sleep, try not to take any dose later than 6 pm.
• Lozol/Indapamide may be taken with or without food. If stomach upset occurs, take with food to reduce stomach irritation.

What is the shelf life of the pills?

• The expiry date is mentioned on each blister. It is different for different batches. The shelf life is 2 years from the date of manufacture and would differ from batch to batch depending on when they were manufactured.
